Going green is paying off for the University of Louisville. UofL just got a six figure rebate check for reducing its electric bill. Even with our record hot summer, the university was able to cut down on how much it spent on electricity.

In fact, UofL’s electric bill has dropped about a quarter since starting an energy saving project. LG&E rewarded the university with a check for $373,000. UofL is part of the commercial rebate program offered by LG&E. It encourages commercial customers to replace aging, less efficient equipment. For example, UofL put lights in one of its buildings on a sensor and put in new light bulbs. That saved $4,500 on electric costs.
